Sardines, often referred to as Pilchards, are an oily forage fish in the Herring family. Their origin is from the Mediterranean Sea and were once caught around the island of Sardinia in abundance…..hence their name.

As a Pike Bait, they are one of the oiliest sea fish and offer great attraction as a predator bait. Their bright silver colour is another attraction. However when thawed, they are a soft bait so best used for static fishing and not wobbling.
