Selected with a range of species in mind these flies will catch most fish found in the southern estuaries, especially those found up in the skinny water of the flats, Bream, Whiting, and Flathead. Apart from poppers most flats flies should be fished in the bottom third of the water column, if not on the bottom. Sometimes the fly is best on the bottom and at other times its best used with a fast retrieve and this can change from day to do. Be prepared to mix up your depths and your retrieves and remember, if in doubt go smaller. The second half of the run out tide is best for most of these fish. These flies can be fished in all of the estuary scenarios, not just the flats.
