Make sure you have split ring pliers that are large enough to open the split ring around the heavy gauge wire of this hook. A few great options are Toit Large Split Ring Pliers or Texas Tackle XL Split Ring Pliers. These will open up even the strongest split rings, we recommend Owner Ultra Wire Split Rings, they are incredibly strong.
